Professor T.R. McClanahan is a 8th Dan in Karate, Taekwondo and holds high grades in Judo and Aikido, and Taiho Jitsu. He bean enforcement career began when he was 29 years old as a Deputy Sheriff in Portage County, State of Ohio and rose to the rank of major in the Stark County Dept. He wan worked as a Deputy, taught Self Defense, Scuba Diving/Underwater Search & Rescue, boating, and Riot Control to the members of the Department and other Law Enforcement Departments and Military. He was certified by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council as an Instructor. He served with the US TKD Federation and was the Treasurer of the Pan American TKD Federation. Additionally,he was a USAKF Team Manager at National Olympic Training Center. He has been certified as a 9th Degree Black Belt with the National Governing Body for Ju-Jitsu of the United States of America (United States Ju-Jitsu Federation [Founding Life Member #014] Sanctioned with/under and by the International Ju-Jitsu Federation, Ju-Jitsu North American Union, General Association of International Sports Federation and the International World Games Association. On March 03, 2000, he was Certified as "having achieved the highest level of US JU-JITSU Instructor/Examiner" and "GRAND MASTER US JU-JITSU INSTRUCTOR / EXAMINER" by the National Governing Body. He is the Vice Chairman of the "Central Technical Committee" for the United States. He has been a National Referee in Judo, a National Referee in Karate and an International Referee in TaeKwonDo. He was the first AAU Judo and Karate Champion in and for the State of Ohio. Professionally, he is a certified appraiser and operates the US Martial Arts Center in Massillon, Ohio. His hobby is sailing (Gulf of Mexico and Lake Erie). He is a member of the United States Coast Guard Aux.
